Bear hug, anyone?
There’s a reason why Canada routinely ranks as one of the most liveable places in the world. And it’s not just because the national dish is fries, cheese curd and gravy. (Although personally, we feel this has a lot to do with it). The combination of backpacker friendly jobs, barefoot summers and big foot winters knocks most countries out of the national park.
Need to know before you go
When to go
Canada is an amazing all-rounder. In fact, if we weren’t so obsessed, we may not be friends. In the winter (Nov-Feb) the hills are alive with some of the world’s best skiing and ski jobs. And come summer, those same resorts become adventure playgrounds for hikers, bikers and climbers. So year-round, there’s no shortage of seasonal jobs.
What it pays
The minimum wage differs per province, with Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia all around the CAD $15 mark, plus tips where applicable. Most of our ski and summer season employers pay $15-20 per hour and include subsidised staff accommodation (around $400-600 per month) and perks such as discounted lift passes and lessons.
Where to go
Most working holidaymakers choose to fly into Vancouver or Toronto where we include a five-night package to get you set up and settled in. If you’ve pre-arranged a seasonal job with us, you can then head out to the slopes. Or Canada’s cities are equally as cool for casual or career work – with an epic food and music scene, and easy access to national parks.
