Why Lake Louise?

For a start, Lake Louise is one of the most beautiful spots on the planet. Framed by the peaks of Fairview Mountain, Devil’s Thumb and Mt. Saint Piran, the lake itself is truly something to behold. And if you happen to get a job with us at the shorefront Fairmont Chateau, you'll have a front row seat to it all season. As well as fantastic skiing and boarding during the winter, you’ve also got excellent hiking and the Lake Louise Gondola – which gives you one of the best chances to see a grizzly during the summer months.

One lift pass will get your access to three different ski areas – nearby Lake Louise, plus Sunshine Village and Mount Norquay – which amounts to a whopping 7,748 acres of terrain. Suitable for all levels, you’ll have your pick of 274 runs and will be skiing or boarding in some of the most magnificent scenery anywhere on earth. Plus, dogsledding, snowshoeing, ice skating, snowmobiling, heli-skiing and cross-country skiing. Don’t also miss the chance to explore Johnston Canyon’s frozen waterfalls, which looks like something out of Narnia at this time of year.

Now if Lake Louise is beautiful during winter, then it knocks it out of the national park in summer. Every visitor to Canada needs that perfect turquoise shot of the lake on their feed, along with a bird’s eye view of the surrounding wilderness from the Lake Louise Gondola. There's also incredible hikes in nearby Banff and Yoho national parks, and the opportunity to amp up the adrenaline with white water rafting, biking and hiking. You also can’t miss driving down the Icefields Parkway. One of the world’s most scenic drives, expect gargantuan glaciers, mighty mountains and a whole host of wildlife species – including black bears, bighorn sheep and moose.

Open during the summer (Jun-Sep), this gondola will whisk you up Mt. Whitehorn for incredible panoramic views and the chance to spot grizzlies and black bears. You can choose to head up in a gondola or on a chairlift, and there’s also a wildlife interpretive centre at the summit which will help you get an insight into the species that reside here.
