Work Australia itinerary

The 8-day One Sydney

Day-to-day itinerary and inclusions for our 7-day Work Australia Sydney starter pack.

Full details about Work Australia

Summary

Along with up to 23 of your soon-to-be best friends, explore all the best bits of Australia's most iconic city and surrounding area when you land in Oz. With accommodation, job workshops, tax and bank essentials, surfing and sailing side quests, and 12 months' job placement services included – it's everything you need to kickstart your working holiday visa in Australia.

Day-to-day itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Sydney

Welcome to Australia! We will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to Nomads Hostel in the heart of Sydney – where you'll be spending the week. All you have to do is check in and the rest of the day is yours to take explore the local area, make ping pong pals in the hostel or sleep off the jet lag.

Day 2: Meet the group and walking tour

Today is all about making friends and getting the lowdown on working and travelling in Australia. After a morning orientation session with your tour leader, you'll head into Sydney for a city tour – see the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and the Botanical Gardens. Then in the evening there'll be a welcome dinner in our (and soon to be your) favourite party bar.

Day 3: Clifftop walk and Bondi Beach

Start the day at your own pace or sleep off those sore heads, because in the afternoon we're doing Sydney's famous coastline walk from Coogee to the iconic Bondi Beach. Pack your swimmers because there are six beaches along the route and things are bound to get sweaty.

The evening is yours to do what you like – opt to stay in Bondi for sunset or head back to the city for night out number two. Our team are on hand for advice and best things to do on a Friday night.

Day 4: Surf lesson and Sydney pub crawl

Wake up dudes, surf's up! Our qualified local surf guides will teach you how to catch a wave (or look good wiping out) during a morning surf session. Then we'll swap our wetsuits for party suits for a night out on the town and a bar crawl around Sydney's hottest spots.

Day 5: Blue Mountains

There's no better tonic to a late night than a stroll in nature. And no stay in Sydney is complete without a day trip to the stunning and iconic Blue Mountains National Park. Here we'll hike to the famous lookouts, hang out at waterfalls and spot wild kangaroos before heading back to Sydney that evening.

Day 6: Sydney Harbour cruise and bingo

Today we hit the water with our very own private catamaran cruise (bougie!) around Sydney harbour. Spend your time tanning on deck, perfecting your diving technique and enjoying a true Aussie BBQ. Then shake off those sea legs for the legendary bingo night at the hostel. It's no normal bingo night (no spoilers). Be prepared!

Day 7: Work and travel advice and farewell dinner

This morning we run a seminar covering everything you need to know to get a job in Australia. We'll get you registered for all your Work + Travel Company (WTC) 12-month membership inclusions. Which includes a Nationwide online Backpacker Job Board, in-house recruitment + placement services, free Wi-Fi and drop-ins at the WTC offices located in Nomads hostel (handy!), mail forwarding, weekly ice-breakers, and as many 1-on-1s as you need to find as many jobs as you want for a whole year! Absolute bosses, travellers typically get placed in a backpacker job and start earning in the first two weeks of doing our packages.

In the evening it's time for your farewell dinner to celebrate an unreal first week in Australia. Exchange numbers and start planning the next stage of your Aussie adventure.

Day 8: Check out

Time to check out and continue your journey – whether that's hitting the road or getting stuck into the job hunt in Sydney. If you need to book extra nights at Nomads or at any of their hostels up the coast (their Magentic Island hostel is banging) then just chat to the team.
