With transfers, accommodation, job workshops, tax and bank essentials, and side quests down to beaches, islands and surf camps included – get set up with everything you need to kickstart your working holiday visa in Australia.

Day-to-day itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Sydney

After a long flight, with your phone and body battery in the red, you’re in no state to navigate new public transport systems. So, Welcome to Travel will pick you up from Sydney airport and deliver you straight to the award-winning Wake Up! hostel to recharge. Landing a few days before? No worries. Your airport pickup is included and can be arranged for any time on any day before the tour. Need extra nights accommodation? Let us know.

Day 2: Meet the group and walking tour

Today you'll meet your fellow travellers and sort all the essentials you need to start working in Australia (and more importantly, start getting paid!). This includes help setting up your Australian bank account, Australian phone number and tax file number. With the admin out the way, we head out on a guided walking tour of Sydney to find your feet (and your new favourite sundowner spot).

We end the day with a family welcome dinner.

Day 3: Work and travel advice, and Aboriginal cultural tour

Today it's time to start thinking about what you'll be doing in Australia with two presentations from the team. The first is an employment presentation where we'll cover off everything you need to find a working holiday job here – including how to find work, how to lay out your resume, and how to access your exclusive Welcome to Travel work resources and job database.

In the second travel presentation, we'll fill you in on all of Australia's iconic destinations: what to do, see, and how to get around.

We spend the afternoon seeing the hidden gems of Sydney, learning all about the city from an indigenous perspective on a Aboriginal cultural tour. Then it's off to our own private cocktail making class (who said travellers can't be classy?), followed by insider advice on where to get the best food in Sydney.

Day 4: Jervis Bay and dolphin spotting

This morning we'll drive along the Sea Cliff Bridge to Jervis Bay, one of the most stunning stretches of coastline in the country and home to pods of friendly dolphins. When we arrive, we'll take a boat out of the bay and go dolphin spotting – cameras at the ready as they jump alongside. Don't worry, they're not shy!

Back on land, we'll spend a lazy afternoon on the white sands of Jervis Bay, before heading to our overnight stay at Surf Camp Australia.

Day 5: Surf camp

Surf's up! Start the day with breakfast and a morning surf at the stunning Seven Mile beach. Don't worry, a surf instructor will be on hand the whole time to help you catch that first wave. Once everyone is completely wiped out, it's time for lunch.

In the evening, it's a two-hour bus ride back to Sydney – plenty of time to plan your next surf trip.

Day 6: Work and travel help and farewells

Remember those presentations on Day 2? It's time to put them into practice. You’ll sit down with a member of the Community Team to chat all about your Australia plans whether that’s help finding farm work or questions about your resume.

We then have a final farewell meal to swap numbers, stories and plans.

Day 7: Free weekend

Enjoy a free weekend with your new mates – visiting all those hidden spots and Sydney icons we'll have been raving about all week.
