You must be:
- 18+ 
- Either a full-time degree level student (unfortunately distance learning is not permitted on this visa); or a recent graduate who will start their UK internship within 24 months of the date on your graduation certificate
- Must not have interned at your host company before. (We can sponsor you twice, but it must be at different UK companies and not exceed 12 months over both internships)
- Must have travel insurance that includes a minimum of USD $100,000 medical cover and repatriation of mortal remains

You must be:
- 18+ 
- Either a full-time degree level student (unfortunately distance learning is not permitted on this visa); or a recent graduate who will start their UK internship within 24 months of the date on your graduation certificate 
- If English isn’t your native language, you’ll need to show a SELT (Secure English Language Test) certificate equal or above of a B2, or IELTS score of 5.5 
- Must not have interned at your host company before. (We can sponsor you twice, but it must be at different UK companies and not exceed 12 months over both internships)
- Must have travel insurance that includes a minimum of USD $100,000 medical cover and repatriation of mortal remains

The Temporary Work GAE visa is the UK internship visa for international students and graduates – and allows you to come to the UK for a temporary period to do short-term work experience. To apply, you must have a UK Government approved sponsor (that’s us), meet the eligibility criteria below (that’s you), and have a paid or unpaid internship placement offer from a UK company (more on this down the page).  
 
Other than UK passport holders, we can sponsor all nationalities to intern in the UK – including overseas students currently studying at a UK university.

Other than working in the hospitality or healthcare sector, we can sponsor you to intern in most fields. From interning at Premier League football clubs to world-famous London museums – past interns have done marketing internships, fashion internships, accounting internships, architectural internships, law internships, publishing internships, finance internships and more. And unlike other student or grad visas, your UK internship doesn’t have to be connected to your academic field – giving you the freedom to get experience in a sector that’s aligned with your future career goals, not just your degree subject. 

**About your internship**

You can do one internship, for between 1-12 months, and it can be a paid or voluntary (unpaid) position. 

**Finding your internship**

You’re responsible for finding your own UK internship, but don’t worry if you don’t have your position secured. From defining your career goals to building your personal brand and prepping for interviews - you'll find start to finish guidance on our [Intern Hub](/infohub/intern-hub/). Plus, handy downloadable templates for emails, resumes, visa letters and more. You'll also find a database of UK employers where past interns have worked, and a list of recommended paid placement partners who can help with your search. 

What internships can I do?

Let prospective employers know from the outset that you'll be securing sponsorship to intern in the UK through JENZA. The cost and immigration red tape for UK employers to take on international interns can often be a barrier, but Intern UK takes care of that. All you need from them is an internship offer. We'll then work with you and your employer to make sure your placement meets the sponsorship requirements. Your position must be: 

-  A maximum of 12 months in duration and at least 25 hours per week
- A supernumerary position, meaning that the role is not taking the place of a permanent employee
- It must include complex activities rather than routine tasks, backed up by a detailed training plan (read: you’re not making copies or coffees!)
- It must include employer supervision. We recommend the company can demonstrate a full-time staff member to intern ratio of 5:1, and no less than three 
- If it’s a paid internship, it must meet the UK’s National Minimum Wage legislation
- If it’s a voluntary internship, it must meet UK Volunteer Rights guidelines 
- Internship longer than six months must be paid
- Your host company should be registered with Companies House in the UK for at least the last 12 months
- At least 30% of a hybrid internship must be based in the company’s registered office. You cannot be fully remote
