About the YAP

As a family of youth work and travel brands with a combined 175+ years of industry expertise (we're blushing), we understand the power of youth voices in shaping our world. Sure, our own staff are young (mostly) and opinionated (always) – but we wanted another set of stakeholders who would ensure youth opinions remained at the heart of what we do. To challenge our thinking, hold us to account, and tell us when a campaign looked like it had been thrown together in the dark. So in 2022, we recruited our first Youth Advisory Panel. Meet some of our panel below.

Ydis

It's important to recognise the voices of today’s generation, especially in today's political climate. All over the world we are seeing violent legislations being passed against minorities that simultaneously represent large factions of Gen Z. It’s so important to see representation in brand marketing to help bolster our generation’s ideals.

Elizabeth

Helping to improve the diversity of the youth and young adult travelling is extremely important to me and being a panellist helps me to make a difference in this sphere. I love to travel and have benefitted greatly from it, and I love having the opportunity to encourage others to also discover the world out there.

I’ve spent the last few years in Canada, the USA and New Zealand working at a summer camp and ski resorts. I have really enjoyed my time as part of the YAP and being able to see how much it's helped with the development of JENZA. How all the different ideas from a group of strangers have helped with every single side of the work we’ve done.

Adithi

Dad calls me an "ABCD": Australian-Born Confused Desi and living across three continents over 23 years has made me a global citizen. I was born and raised in Australia, lived in Bangalore, and went to college in the US. As an outgoing, curious and determined individual, I was interested to meet individuals with like-minded yet diverse backgrounds on the panel.

YAP in action

From our colour palettes to our purpose, we recruited our first Youth Advisory Panellists to help us shape the newest member of our work and travel family – JENZA. Not content with influencing some amazing social responsibility incentives (such as our Youth Access Scholarship Fund) and the cutest creative in the travelsphere YAP now work across projects for all our work and travel brands: JENZA, BUNAC, USIT and SWAP.

From campaign marketing to product development, joining YAP is a great way to be a voice for your generation – while also getting CV/resume experience of working for a global collection of brands.

On the road

YAP in Lisbon

Travelling in from NYC, Paris, Berlin and London – four of our panel joined us at WYSTC '23 (World Youth Student Travel Conference) in Lisbon. Advocating for their generation and the issues that affect them, our panellists met with industry leaders and government bodies in the JENZA Gen Z Den to talk all things work and travel – from visa policies to corporate responsibility and who'd had the best pastel de nata. (Trick question – there are no bad pastel de nata).
